From Black Friday to iMonday

Two things struck me regarding this article on CNN.com today...

1) Some businesses are going to foolishly use this as an excuse to crack down even more on internet use @ work. Wasting too much time, they'll say. Install more controls and get all big brother on their employees. Bah humbug.

2) The second, and more optimistic, view is that this holiday season may actually be a good one, and finally folks are starting to see the light that online shopping is the way to go. Sure, there are some things you will never be able to buy sight unseen, or without first trying them on. But for the most part, you can buy darn near anything online - likely cheaper than any bricks and mortar store, and way more conveniently.

In fact, Circuit City pointed out right in their Wednesday sale flyer that they although their stores were closed on Thanksgiving, the website was open and had several online only deals that day. The times they are a-changin'.
