Get back to work!!!

Thanks to Dana VanDen Heuvel for this very interesting article from AdAge regarding the amount of time folks waste on writing and reading blogs during the course of a normal work day.

According to the article, American workers will waste the equivalent of 551,000 years reading them. I'm assuming that's cumulative, and not an average. :-) On average, one in four workers is reading blogs during the week, and spending an average of 3.5 hours a week on them.

I guess when you put those kind of numbers to it, the problem seems epidemic, but haven't workers ALWAYS been wasting time? There's the phone, the bathroom, smoke breaks (argh), tetris, solitaire, the water cooler, stupid email chains, surfing the 'net and just general gabbing. I guess this is just another in a long history of diversions that workers have always tended towards. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

FYI, if anyone from my company checks in on this blog, I NEVER work on my blog at work... :-)
