Identity Theft & Privacy Concerns

This little experiment was interesting to me, since we just sat through a presentation on identity theft at one of our recent sales meetings. Like many of us, this guy gets a lot of credit card applications. And, like many of us, he rips 'em in half and throws them away, thinking he's all safe.

Then he got to thinking... is that really enough, security-wise. So, in the name of science, he ripped one of the applications into little pieces, taped it back together and filled it out (with a different address and his cell number, mind you).

The result? A brand spankin' new card showed up at his parents house a couple weeks later.

Moral of the story? Shred the crap out of credit card apps and all that other stuff that can get you into trouble. I'll post some more hints & tips when i find the brochure from the presentation I saw a couple weeks ago.
