See Concert. Buy CD 10 Minutes later

Yo-Yo Ma is playing at the Weidner tonight, which is pretty darn cool all by itself. But, as part of the exphttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.giferience, you can pre-order a recording of the evening's performance and take delivery of said recording within 10 minutes of the end of the performance.

Here's the Weidner email I received. And here's a link to Instant Live, the company that provides this pretty cool service.

How's that for nearly instant gratification?

The flipside?! Well, Instant Live is a subsidiary of the evil empire that is Clear Channel. Pretty much everything they touch has a wicked, squash the competition (usually unfairly) angle to it. This service is no different. This article from the San Antonio Business Journal covers both sides of Instant Live pretty well. Basically, if an artist appears in a Clear Channel controlled venue, they are forced to use their services - like ticketing and Instant Live.

Check out ClearChannelSucks.net for more on the questionable business practices of Clear Channel.
